Brembo® Brakes

New premium Brembo® Stylema monobloc front brake calipers are paired with a new Brembo® master cylinder to offer outstanding braking power and exceptional feel.

KYB® Front Suspension

A new KYB® front fork is fully redesigned offering excellent response, road feel and chassis stability. Individual adjusters on the right and left fork tubes offer a full range of adjustability including preload, high- and low-speed compression and rebound adjustments for precise damping control.

MotoGP® Derived Crossplane Crankshaft Engine

The YZF-R1's 998cc inline-four-cylinder engine features Yamaha's exclusive crossplane crankshaft technology derived from the YZR-M1 MotoGP® race bike. By equalizing inertial forces at the crankshaft, the CP4 motor delivers a direct feeling of linear torque, giving the rider the ultimate connection between throttle grip and the rear wheel.

Digital Superbike Technology

The YZF-R1 features a cableless ride-by-wire Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T®) system that transforms the rider's inputs into motion, with a full suite of IMU-powered electronic rider aids that bring new meaning to the term "rider confidence."

An integrated GPS data-logging system is enabled through Yamaha's Communication Control Unit offering vehicle data recording with course mapping and automatic lap timing.
Four-level Lift Control System (LIF) detects front wheel lift and regulates engine power to maintain chassis attitude and forward drive.
Four-level Slide Control System (SCS) detects lateral slides and adjusts power delivery to control cornering attitude.
Lean angle-sensitive Traction Control (TCS) incorporates 6-axis IMU to adjust intervention to suit rider preference.
Four-level Power Delivery Mode (PWR) allows rider to adjust engine response to suit preference.
Three-level Engine Brake Management (EBM) system allows rider to adjust engine braking to suit preference.
Yamaha's lean-sensitive Brake Control (BC) System works with ABS to provide progressive brake force intervention as lean increases.
Ride-by-wire Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T®) system enables cutting-edge computerized engine management.
