2018 Precision Planting Ready Row Unit

Trading Planters Doesnt Always Make Sense

Stop at any farm shop in the winter and one of the common activities you will find is a planter being prepped for spring. The planter row units are being gone through to make sure that all of the wear parts are in tip top shape; bushings, bearings, bolts, openers, gauge wheel arms all need to be at their peak in order to ensure the row unit will set the stage for consistent emergence and high ear counts. When many farmers trade planters, the goal is to get an updated row unit that doesnt need maintenance this season while also updating to the latest technology. Typically the toolbar of the planter is in great shape. What if you could get the updated row unit and technology you want, without the expense and hassle of trading planters?

The Precision Planting Ready Row Unit solves both issues: replace your current row units with a retrofit row unit and then build on that row unit with the latest technology.

Keep your planter, upgrade your row unit

Instead of the significant expense of trading for an updated planter, why not simply put new row units on your current planter? The Precision Planting Ready Row Unit is fully customizable for your operations needs with different gauge wheel options, closing wheel options, hopper configurations, and fertility attachments. Dont trade, upgrade.

    Depth Matters

Consistent planting depth is critical to uniform emergence and stand establishment. Mechanical variation in the manufacturing process and wear on disk openers and the depth adjustment linkage can all lead to planting shallower than the depth setting. The Precision Planting Ready Row Unit features a depth calibration system which allows every row unit to be calibrated to the same depth before going to the field. The calibration system ensures that when every depth adjustment handle is set at the same depth, every row is planting at that depth, setting the stage for uniform emergence.

    How Depth Calibration Works

The calibration system ensures that the Precision Planting row unit has every row planting consistently before going to the field. The calibration is easy. Place a known thickness under the gauge wheels, say a 2x4 (1.5 thick) and then set the row unit depth to that known thickness, then lower the row unit. The depth calibration nut can then be turned in or out with a socket until it is tight against the depth stop. When the disk openers are touching the floor, the gauge wheels are on the 2x4, and the nut is tight against the depth stop, you know that the row unit is calibrated. A change in depth setting will result in each row being set to the same depth, knowing that there is consistentcy across the entire planter.

The Precision Planting Ready Row Unit can be equipped with different gauge wheel and closing options to customize your planter. Use the toolbar you already own, or build a planter with a new toolbar from various manufacturers. The Precision Planting Ready Row Unit is built to accept the Precision Planting technology and products that you need, so that you can build the planter that you want.

This photo illustrates the emergence variation between two rows of the same planter set at the same depth setting but with true planting depths varied by 5/8 between rows.
