The OS170 spreader from Loftness® meets the needs of modern orchards and vineyards. That’s because it has a higher capacity, lower profile and narrower width than other spreaders on the market. It spreads dry material with superior precision and offers stainless steel construction for corrosion resistance. Not to mention, it provides the durability and reliability that producers have come to expect from Loftness products.

Driven to Perform

The OS170 spreader is available with two drive options. Our exclusive Hydraulic Fixed Rate Drive performs like a traditional ground drive spreader but without the chains, sprockets, shafts and clutches. Or, we offer a Variable Rate Capable Drive, allowing the use of fertilizer prescriptions in GPS-enabled tractors with ISOBUS technology or compatible aftermarket rate controllers.

Keeping a Low Profile

At only 56.4 inches tall, the OS170 leads the industry with its low profile, allowing it to easily travel under tree branches. Despite the lower profile, the spreader has one of the highest capacities with the ability to carry up to 80 cubic feet of material.

Additionally, a hopper width of 48.7 inches and tire width of only 50.1 inches allows the OS170 can operate efficiently in some of the narrowest spaced plantings.

Adapts to Reduced Rates

If spreading micronutrients or low rates of other fertilizers, a low rate kit is available for precisely spreading small amounts of material. Simply switch sprockets to go from high to low rates.

Controlled Spin

The controlled spinner drive option works in conjunction with a speed sensor, allowing the operator to set the desired spinner speed from the cab to match the desired spread width. Simply enter the desired spinner speed, and the spinners will adjust automatically to the programmed speed.

Hydraulic Fixed Rate Drive

This modern take on the ground drive spreader eliminates chains, sprockets, shafts and clutches. Simply set product density and application rate on the simplistic controller, and the spreader will match the conveyor speed to the ground speed. The system requires only 12V power from the tractor to run.

Variable Rate Capable Drive

Variable rate capabilities allow the use of fertilizer prescriptions for automatic rate adjustments. This option requires a GPS-enabled tractor with ISOBUS technology or compatible aftermarket rate controller. It offers plug-and-play functionality with controllers from all major manufacturers, including John Deere, AgLeader and Raven.

Low Rate Kit

The available low rate kit includes an additional shaft, chain and sprockets. The drive can be easily switched to these sprockets for low rate applications, including cover crop seed and low fertilizer rates.

Stainless Steel Construction

The hopper is constructed of 409 painted stainless steel for superior corrosion resistance. All other areas exposed to continuous fertilizer contact are made from stainless steel as well, such as the 304 stainless steel conveyor chain.

Dual Stainless-Steel Spinners

Dual stainless steel spinners produce a consistent spread pattern up to 25 feet wide on the standard model. A 40-foot spread width is optional.

Spinner Drive

The dual stainless steel spinners come standard with hydraulic drive but can be equipped with an optional 540-RPM PTO drive.

An optional controlled spinner drive works in conjunction with a speed sensor, allowing the operator to set the desired spinner speed from the cab to match the desired spread width. Simply enter the desired spinner speed, and the spinners will adjust automatically to the programmed speed.

Adjustable Hitch

The hitch has an adjustable clevis to accommodate a wider range of drawbar heights, and allows for leveling of the spreader.

Optional Banding Attachment

The optional bander at the rear of the spreader deflects the fertilizer and places it in narrow zones or bands to provide a concentrated application. Deflectors on the bander can be adjusted to direct the fertilizer to the desired location, or band width.

Optional Top Screen

Add a top screen to the OS170 to help keep large chunks and foreign material from entering the hopper.

Optional Roll Tarp

A convenient roll-up cover helps protect your fertilizer from the elements. (This option isn’t compatible with the top screen.)
